“It means that you haven’t seen the plan…”-Who is the speaker? Whom is he speaking to? In what context does the speaker say this?

Hello friends today we are discuss this question, the question is -“It means that you haven’t seen the plan…”-Who is the speaker? Whom is he speaking to? In what context does the speaker say this?

Here, the speaker is Stepan Stepanovitch। Chubukov. He is speaking to Ivan Vassilevitch Lomov. Lomov visits his neighbour Chubukov’s house to ask for his daughter’s hand in marriage. But instead of expressing his desire to Natalya, they get embroiled in an argument regarding the possession of the Oxen Meadows. The heated discussion turns bitter and both Lomov and Natalya assert that their respective ancestors are the actual owners of the meadows. Chubukov also joins the fray and against Lomov’s claim that his aunt’s grandmother gave the meadows for the temporary and free use to his grandfather’s peasants, declares that the peasants did not pay Lomov’s grandmother, because the meadows were in dispute. Chubukov also adds that it is known by everybody that the Oxen Meadows belong to them and Lomov is the only person who is unaware of the fact because he has not seen the plan.
