Hello friends today we are discuss this question, the question is – “I’m the most unhappy of men!”-Who said this? Why did he say so? How did the speaker get rid of his unhappiness?
This remark was made by Natalya’s father Stepan Stepanovitch Chubukov.
Lomov and Natalya were engaged in a heated argument over their hunting dogs. Chubukov spoke in favour of his daughter. Lomov started palpitating and he eventually collapsed into an armchair. Lomov’s physical condition made Chubukov worried since he did not want to miss the chance of marrying off his twenty-five-year old daughter to his neighbour, Lomov. Therefore Chubukov who thought her daughter as a liability and wanted Natalya to get married as soon as possible, made the above statement.
As soon as Lomov got back to his senses, Chubukov grabbed the opportunity to get rid of his unhappiness. He instructed them to get married quickly and consented to Lomov’s proposal on behalf of Natalya. He showered his blessings upon them. He requested the couple to allow him to lead a peaceful life now.
