Mrs Jones a kind-hearted woman with a tough exterior changed Roger’s life completely, Having caught the boy red-handed, she neither ill- treats him nor belittles him, rather she extend him her sincere hospitality and care. She even gave him ten dollars to buy a pair of blue suede shoes. Her motherly affection and magnanimity enlightened Roger and motivated him to start a new life where he would try to live an honest life and get things through the right way. Had he not been changed, he would, have run at the first opportunity given. He got ample opportunities of running away, that too with the purse of Mrs Jones when she was busy preparing dinner. But he had done no such thing. He had also learnt that things earned by the devilish way would ruin one’s life by taking away a person’s mental peace. Mrs Jones’ generosity and blind faith in him moved Roger. This transformation was possible only because of Mrs Jones. Instead of taking action against Roger, she did something which was very unlikely. So we can conclude that the valuable teaching of Mrs Jones will never allow
