Give a brief description of the valley as found in Rimbaud’s poem ‘Asleep in the Valley.

Hello friends today we are discuss this question, the question is -Give a brief description of the valley as found in Rimbaud’s poem ‘Asleep in the Valley.

In the poem, ‘Asleep in the Valley’, Rimbaud paints a picture of a serene valley. He describes the। beautiful valley vividly. The valley is green coloured and small in size. A silvery stream flows through the valley at a slow pace leaving a whitish trail on the grass. The valley that lies between the mountains looks bright as the rays of the sun pours down from the mountaintop and illuminates the entire valley. The vegetation of the valley is nourished by sunlight. Dense bushes cover the valley. Ferns and wild flowers of different colours grow in abundance. There are also buzzing insects who fly about the valley. The valley seems to be the epitome of Mother Nature who affectionately shelters and protects the sleeping soldier against cold. The quietude of Nature apparently allows the soldier to rest in peace. However, the last line of the poem which mentions the bullet wounds, strips the positive aura of the valley, replacing it with anxiety and horror. Thus, the picturesque valley turns into the soldier’s deathbed.
